Summit Technical Training & Consulting was built on a simple idea: the best training comes from real experience. Led by John Terasconi, an MIT-trained HVAC engineer with decades spent both in the field and in the classroom, Summit brings together hands-on knowledge and proven teaching methods to help people truly understand their work. Over the years, John has helped modernize programs, grow student enrollment, and mentor instructors, always focused on making training more practical, relevant, and effective.
Today, Summit works with schools, training programs, and mechanical teams to create learning experiences that reflect what actually happens on the job. From building out curriculum and labs to training apprentices and experienced technicians, the goal is always the same: make learning clear, useful, and impactful: so teams perform better, grow faster, and deliver higher-quality work every day.
John Terasconi, Founder
John brings a rare blend of hands-on experience, technical expertise, and leadership to Summit Technical Training & Consulting. With 20 years in the HVAC field, he has worked across residential systems, refrigeration, steam, controls, and building automation, developing a deep understanding of how mechanical systems perform in real-world conditions. He also spent a decade as an HVAC engineer at MIT, operating in a highly demanding environment that further sharpened his skills in complex systems and performance.
In addition to his field and engineering experience, John has 20 years of teaching experience, training both new apprentices and seasoned technicians in everything from core fundamentals to advanced diagnostics and professional service skills. As a professor and department chair for 10 years, he led program growth, managed a team of instructors, and expanded enrollment from roughly 50 to 140 students. He also designed a successful two-year Building Automation Systems degree and developed specialized training programs in heat pumps, refrigeration, VRF systems, and maintenance.
